Liebster Award //

Selbe of Oh, Heaven by Selbe Rhea is so sweet and recently nominated me for a Liebster award! For some reason it sounded so familiar, so I went and took a look at my old blog and sure enough, in true Shannon fashion, I had been nominated by the gorgeous mama Sarah Reed and the beautiful ladies over at Long Distance Baking as well and had totally spaced it. I’m not even going to tell you how long ago I was nominated, or the fact that I had two separate drafted posts that were half done in response to my nomination, I’m just going to give myself a high five for finally accepting the award and writing an actual response in a timely matter!
The Liebster Award is given to bloggers with less than 200 followers (yaay for small followings consisting mainly of distant relatives!) and nomations are received from other bloggers. In order to accept the award, the nominator (or in my case, nominatorS) has provided me with 11 questions to answer about myself and my blog. Because I was given 3 sets of questions, I’ll combine them so you won’t have to sort through a novel – you’re welcome

1.What is your favorite aspect of blogging?
Blogging has been so cathartic for me. I kind of dabbled in it in the past, but once I got pregnant (and even more so after Harrison was born) I had so much to say and needed somewhere I could put my thoughts down. I have a ridiculous amount of drafts on my dashboard that haven’t been (and probably never will be) posted that are midnight ramblings of a pregnant person and new mom.

2.What is one country in the world you would like to visit and why?
New Zealand has been on my bucket list since I was in Middle School! I used to sit in computer lab and google images of NZ and make lists of everywhere I wanted to go and everything I wanted to do there. My mom actually promised me a trip to New Zealand as a graduation present in 9th grade, but life got in the way and I was unable to go. It is such a beautiful country with so much natural diversity and I would love to take Harrison when he’s older and can appreciate it more.

3.If you have children, what are their names?
I have one son, Harrison Edwin, who will be ONE on the 14th. Holy yikes.

4. A long lost relative leaves you a large sum of money. What do you do with it?
Easy – travel! Zach and I talk about this all the time when we indulge in buying lottery tickets. I would, of course, save a good amount, but I’m learning as I get older that experience is so much more important than material objects. I have so many fond memories of the world traveling I was fortunate enough to do with my parents as I was growing up and there are so many places left to explore!

5. What is your favorite food?
This is where I might sound a little crazy: oven roasted brussels sprouts yum. I don’t know what it is about them, but I can’t get enough!

6. Coffee, tea or neither?
Both! Bold roast plain black coffee and plain green tea are my morning ritual.

7. What is your dream job?
If you would have asked me a few months ago, I would have easily said either an Elementary School counselor or Special Education teacher, however lately I’m really really happily content with being a stay at home mom, and would love to continue until we decide we’re done having kids and they’re all in school.

8. What is your all-time favorite movie?
Breakfast at Tiffany’s, My Fair Lady and The Sandlot are tied!

9. Where is your favorite place to shop online?
Does Instagram count? I have fallen down the rabbit hole that is IG shopping!

10. What are some of your other hobbies?
I love crafting in all aspects – sewing, quilting, knitting and crocheting. Now that Harrison is getting older I’m starting to have more time to devote to crafting and just finished his baby quilt and a quilt for my husband!

11. How did you choose your blog name?
It’s from a beautiful poem “i love you much(most beautiful darling)” by ee cummings:

“i love you much(most beautiful darling)
more than anyone on the earth and i
like you better than everything in the sky
– sunlight and singing welcome your coming
although winter may be everywhere
with such a silence and such a darkness
noone can quite begin to guess
(except my life)the true time of year –
and if what calls itself a world should have
the luck to hear such singing(or glimpse such
sunlight as will leap higher than high
through gayer than gayest someone’s heart at your each
nearness)everyone certainly would(my
most beautiful darling)believe in nothing but love”
