Stitch Fix #2

I received my second StitchFix box this weekend and was super happy with my Fix. Not only did my box come 5 days earlier than promised, but the price points were awesome and I loved what I was sent!

If you haven’t heard of StitchFix by now, you may or may not be living under a rock or blissfully ignorant of the rampant promoting they do on Facebook and other such websites. It is a personal shopper-esque experience, all done from the comfort of your own home! You do pay $20 for the service, but it’s credited back to you if you purchase anything from the box, and if you keep all five items they also give you a 25% “buy all” discount. To find out more details, check out my first Fix!

Something to note – the sunglasses that I’m wearing with these outfits are from Subsidy Shades, an amazing company started by Melissa to help “bring together adoptive families through affordable fashion”. Do yourself a favor and head over to her shop and pick up a pair (or three) for everyone on your list. All of their sunglasses are super affordable (ranging from $12 – $24 with free domestic shipping), and if you follow along on Subsidy Shade’s Instagram you can stay up to date on sales and promotions! Melissa and her husband Robert have been able to raise the funds for their own adoptions as well as many others through the sale of these sunglasses. Adoption is very near and dear to my family’s heart, so this is a cause I was happy to get behind! I am wearing the Adult Madison in Black if you’re interested!

(You’ll have to excuse my appearance, as it had been a rough day full of nap-mutiny and no time to do my hair or makeup to hide the puffy eyes and dark circles!)

COLLECTIVE CONCEPTS Mondo Abstract Print Spaghetti Strap Tank – $28
RENEE C Huebert Space Dye Open Cardigan – $58
These were two pieces I would have walked right past and said “no way” to, had I been shopping for myself. I’ve never thought to try such a voluminous top, and definitely not a pink or snake print pattern, but I liked it on! I paired it with skinny jeans, but I also think it would have been cute with a fitted pencil or midi skirt. My only issue with the top were the straps – they are tiny little spaghetti straps, and no matter what I did, my bra was visible in the back and on the sides. While I liked this a lot, hubby was not a fan of the billowy fit, and I really don’t need more tanks right as winter is starting.
The cardigan was one I really really wanted to like, but something just felt off about it. For a $60 cardigan, I expected a little more substance and a better choice of fabric makeup, but it just felt cheap and was too thin. Unfortunately, there just wasn’t much to write home about with this one.
Verdict? Returned both *le sigh*.

MARKET AND SPRUCE Ohara Animal Print Faux-Wrap Tie Waist Dress – $68.00

I loved this dress. The faux-wrap style was super flattering and I loved that it was easy to dress up or down depending on how I styled it. The pattern is definitely loud up close, but I think it photographs well and it definitely grew on me; hubby, however, was not a fan of the print at all, and apparently hates wrap dresses, so he was not a fan. This was really really hard to return, as I think it would have been perfect for when I start teaching, date nights, real estate meetings and work parties. The fabric was soft and lovely, and I fear I may regret returning this one.

Verdict? Return

FUN2FUN Colbie Lace Detail Blouse – $38.00

Probably my (and hubby’s) favorite piece from this Fix. Easily. This top is gorgeous and so versatile! I love how it looks with high waisted skinnies, low rise boyfriend jeans, and pencil skirts, and I have a feeling it will become one of my staple pieces. It’s demure with the high neckline, but has a subtle hint of sexy with the side slits (my kryptonite) and the detailing around the décolletage. I’m taking this with me to Vegas and see it being an easy piece to transition from day to night!
Verdict? Keep!

RENEE C Melisa Mixed Geo Print Pencil Skirt – $48.00

As soon as I saw this in the box, I knew I was going to love it. I had just been telling hubby how I missed wearing pencil skirts, but my old ones were too stiff feeling. This high waisted printed skirt is so comfortable – there are no buttons or zippers to mess with and feels good on. I think the black and white tribal print is so fun, and will be really easy to dress up with a blouse or wear more casually with a tee. I also love how it looks with the Fun2Fun tank that was also in this Fix!

Verdict? Keep!

Overall I was really really happy with what they sent me, even though I only kept 2/5. Had I not just gone crazy during Black Friday shopping on Instagram, I probably would have kept everything. I think it’s great they send you a sheet with outfit ideas for all the pieces and a little note on why they chose the items for you. They also super took into account my budget this go around. I told them I was feeling tapped out after holiday shopping and wanted more lower priced options, and this time my total (with 25% discount and a referral credit) would have only been around $140 for everything – so much better than the almost $300 total from last time! This is only my second Fix and I already feel like they get me and my style so much more. My stylist did note that my detailed pinterest board and notes through our correspondence made her job easy, because she knew what I did and didn’t like about everything from my last Fix and all the pieces I pinned. My biggest piece of advice with SF is to give a TON of feedback and pin everything you like and explain why – doing that will ensure that you will get things that you’ll actually wear and will look great in your closet!
If you want to learn more about Stitch Fix and order yourself a box of 5 pieces to add to your closet (or not!), check them out and let them know I sent you! (Shameless plug, I know, but if you use my link I get a referral credit, which I would really appreciate!)

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
